River column moving
This is a slightly more specific question than your email questions that you referenced.
I have an open River spot, and a Q of diamonds under a J of clubs on another River spot, can I split the pile to get at the Q of diamonds to play it in the Lake by moving the J of clubs to the open River spot? The rules say you can fill blank River spots with Nertz pile cards or Stream pile cards, but say nothing about filling blank spots with other River cards. (It's quite rare that you would want to do this.)

Open river slots..
Good Question...and thanks for your post. Yes you can fill these slots with other river cards or by splitting river columns. If column splitting is allowed the open river slot acts as a "Wild" card that can accommodate any available card (Nertz, Stream, or River) or potential river column split. I use this strategy on occasion if I really need a blocked river card.
